Old Kent Road:
a neighbourhood portrait
In 2025, we became part of a group of community organisers and artists on Old Kent Road who came together to make a ‘Neighbourhood Portrait’ – a multi-layered artwork that explores what life is like in our area.
Inspired by economist Kate Raworth’s idea of Doughnut Economics, we used this project as an opportunity to look closely at our neighbourhood and collectively think about how it is (or could be) a place where people and planet can thrive.
F.A.T. Studio was appointed to lead the creative side of the project. Over the year, we worked together with our partners* to organise a string of public events that started conversations with our neighbours about life on OKR. We used our creative practices to document the conversations and then produced an exhibition that brought it all together at the end of the project – or is it just the beginning?!
